For Christians, the month of June is more and more becoming a time when our place outside of the dominant culture is most evident. It has been suggested by some Christians that we dedicate the month of June to reflecting on the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I think this is a wonderful idea.

This June, let us step away from the Culture Wars, the celebration of self, the obsession with pleasure and independence. Let us instead, look to the heart of Jesus. Let us reflect on his unmerited grace and mercy. In a world of protest and anger, let us look to the bleeding heart of Christ poured out for us on the cross. Let us pray that he cleanses the “thoughts of our hearts” by the “inspiration of [His] Holy Spirit” that we might more perfectly project his love for all people into the world.

Join us this month as we daily pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

“Jesus, meek and humble of Heart. Make our hearts like unto Thine.”
